The morning mist of daybreak
Is a delicate lavender blue,
Lending a soft velvet touch
To my musical morning mood.

The hills are cast with purple
In the shadows of the trees –
A harmonious lyric haunts me
In this tranquil setting by the sea.

I find here peace of mind
For my spirit that was troubled…
There is harmony as I envision
My destiny where joy is doubled.

There’s a sun behind the hills
As it rises in the morning;
May I face it with new hope
And be happy, not forlorning.
I will walk out in the sunshine,
Ever ready to face each day;
I’ll be eager to meet all others
That greet me along the way.
I can follow the light in evening
As the moon replaces the sun;
While I rest the stars will shine,
Twinkling when the day is done.
I know that behind the shadows
Every day and every night
That you, Jesus, are my Lord –

The warblers beckon
Come on out into this new day.
The rainbow promises the clouds will go away.
Watch the fawns dancing;
Soon you will be prancing….
Off to work you go with a smile;
You could easily run a mile.
There’s music in the air,
Of the beauty of nature you are aware.
It’s great to just be ALIVE –
You know that you will thrive!
Feel the warmth of the sun
On your back encouraging you to run.

Comes over you here
As you lean back, close your eyes,

Hope is a ray of light from heaven;
It’s what lights your way each night and day.
It makes you look forward to tomorrow;
It provides strength to make you stay.

To share with others as you pray……
That today is not your last;

With a wing-span you wouldn't believe.
He landed on the log on the other side
Of the lake where fish he'll retrieve.
The madrona trees sport colored bark

They blow along the dusty path,
Landing wherever they please.

Refreshing every thing in sight:

The spotlight blocks her view.
She is alone in her realm on stage
Moving about to entertain you.
She knows the audience appreciates her,
As the loud applause shows her.
She's free to express her emotions
In dancing to music as people gather.
A dancer enjoys the exercise;
She's free to move to syncopation.
She likes to please her fans
As she hopes she is a sensation.
She floats about as free as a bird,
Thrilled as the music moves her on wing
With the hope of dancing on into heaven
On a stage of gold in praise of her KING!

Through a lovely garden in quiet reflection.
You need some time to fill up the well of your soul
While contemplating with serious introspection.

Weed out the things that weigh you down,
Slow you up and hold you back,
Then return to your path with renewed strength
And enthusiasm you will not lack.

The fresh clear air will provide oxygen,
So breathe deeply, taking it in.
You need it to replenish your spirit;
Then with determination you can win.

The sight of towering trees
Hovering over to shade you
And the palette of colors among blossoms
Will color your thinking, too.

Growing things are an inspiration
To keep you moving along;

Symphony at Sunset

A breeze whispers through the trees
Calling your name tonight.
The birds play tag from limb to limb
In the descending evening light.
Let's go down to the outdoor bowl
To listen to the symphony.
The park is lit up to guide you in
To hear music for you and me.
The crescendo of drums opens the show,
The trumpets calling you in....
As the trombones blare and clarinets sing
The melody is played by a violin.
The cellos support the bass,
The saxophones the winds --
Tubas, oboes and flutes join together
Then the symbols crash at the end!!

Endowed With Splendor

Never Alone

As I gaze out the window
I’m well aware
That I am not alone.
God is alive in nature
No matter where I might roam;
I feel the warmth of His arms
Wrapping around me in the sunshine,
And when the weather is warm
I feel the coolness of his voice
Calming me down.
His creations are mirrored
In the glass-like surface of water:
The trees that sway in rhythm,
Squirrels scampering skyward on limbs,
Ducks gliding along in the sun;
The whole scene is a resounding HYMN!

New Treasures

There are treasures to be found;
A precious gift is awaiting you
Each day they will abound:
A pink rose blooming down by the lake,
A bird song greeting you;
Don’t overlook the ripples on the water
Or the fluffy white clouds in the blue…
The sky is clearing, awaiting the sun
Shining down on you now.
The brightness will keep you searching
And you’ll find new treasures somehow:
A letter that arrives from a friend,
A phone call from a relative far away,
The written word that thrills
And the words of love they say.

With rugged beaches along the coast

There are dense green forests and peaceful farms
Nestled in rich valleys between;
The rivers and streams are a wonder to see,
The waterfalls magnificent to behold.
Listen for the call of the western Meadowlark,
Watch the lakes and ponds for beaver,
Admire the Oregon Grape adorning the land,
Enjoy the hazelnuts, berries and wine,
Fish for trout and salmon,

I have a hope within my soul
That keeps me looking up;
I’m on a journey through my life:
I’ve drunk from a bitter cup.
I know I don’t have long to live
So I live each day as my last.
Whatever the outcome, I walk on
Even though the spell has been cast.
I travel by a hidden lake
Where ripples flow like wind-blown waves
Quickly journeying toward the shore,
A place that deserves everyone’s raves.
I’m lucky to be alive here at this time;

There are people here who support me

Blooming flowers, bushes and trees,
Busy squirrels scampering up trees,
Geese waddling under Madonnas,
Goose nesting by the lake below us,
Cherry blossoms outside dining windows,
Ripples on the water under fountains,
Faces on the firs watching over us,
Bird feeders ready for returning flocks,
The lake serene is a beautiful sight;
We're thankful to God for His sunlight!

My eyes have seen the rising sun
And the clouds that gathered above
Then Jesus came and rolled the clouds away
And I saw the heavenly dove.
The deep blue water reflects the sky;
The sunbeams dance on the waves...
I ponder the troubles of yesterday

Be in tune to listen to what’s said between each heartbeat:
The red amaryllis is a splendid beauty, “Let’s reach toward the sky!”
The blue bellflower bows its head praying, “Be thankful to be alive!”
Pink carnations with pride remind us to “Hold your head up high!”
The dainty day lily tells us, “Be grateful for each new day!”
Easter lilies join together in a “Hallelujah” Chorus;
Fox gloves are signs that “Your transformation may be soon!”
Gloxinias with mouths open wide express “JOY!”, their
Feelings cannot hide!
The honeysuckle aroma speaks volumes about affection: ”Love all around!”
The message of the Iris is in its brilliance – “Live a colorful life!”
Jonquils trumpet a resounding harbinger, “Spring is here to stay!”
Kennedia speaks of mental beauty, Laurel reminds of glory;
Morning glories greet the dawn as nasturtiums reflect the sun.
Orange blossoms exude purity, pansies whisper thoughts of love;
The quince blossom tempts your pallet, roses speak the language of love.
Sunflowers show stately beauty, tulips rich in color are a treasure trove;
Uropilla stands as a pillar of strength; violets say, “Be faithful
in all you do!”
Willows by the water declare, “Freedom!”
Xeranthemim…”Be cheerful no matter what!”
Yew offers comforts bestowed;
Zinnias scattered about shout, “AMEN!”

Other Side of the Bridge

Life is full of surprises

On the other side of the bridge:

People, places and special events

To fill your life and keep you on the edge.

You can follow the road to education,

Be inspired by a teacher you admire;

You may join a church and listen to

A preacher who can set you on fire!

You can develop a new friendship

With a special neighbor who cares

You never know what might follow....

A special event of which you're not aware!

So set out on your journey

And enjoy the ride ahead

You just might have the time of your life,

poetry is the language of the heart

to lift you up and make you glad

listen to the poet

whisper a message to you

your heart will skip a beat

and dance about merrily too

poems can cheer you up

making each day seem better

in a welcome love letter

inspiring your spirit to fly

up high with the soaring bird

Feel the blood surge through your veins
Life is flowing there
Keeping you young and active now
Breathing the fresh pure air.
Stretch your arms, reach to the sky;
Keep your legs moving.
Aren't you lucky to be alive?
Good health you are proving.
Read your Bible every day,
Don't forget to pray;
Life goes on forever more
If your prayers you will say --
Confess your sins to God the Father,
Believe in Jesus Christ His Son.
He will forgive and cleanse your soul,
Then life in heaven you've won!

Path to Peace

We have a hope that lives on
No matter where we roam...
The path to peace is in our hearts;
Whether far away or here at home.
There is a road map printed
Indelibly in our minds.
If we just search our thoughts,
The peaceful way we will find --
So calm yourself and rest;
As you meditate you'll see
That God has a plan for us:
Jesus cares for you and me.
The Bible leads us on
In peace with consistency
So keep on your path with assurance,
A peaceful mind leads to tranquility.

A New Day Dawns

This could be the best day of your life
If you wake up with the sun
Keep a positive attitude
And from your troubles RUN!
Visit with your friends
Keep watching for good news,
Love is in the air
And will bring whatever you choose.
Life is full of happiness
If you will just look around
There’s lots of reasons for joy
And in you it will abound.

Be Alive!

Breathe deeply and stretch your arms;
Feel the blood coursing through your chest.
Now get up and get out to activate your legs;
Your brain will tell your body what is best.
Eat good food with plenty of nutrients;
Drink water to keep you going,
Treat yourself as well or better
As you care for a faithful pet.
Then pray and contemplate your plan of action;
You’ll accomplish great things, I’ll bet!
Be called by God for your work;
You have an appointment of POWER!
Your forefathers will be proud,
So stand up tall and be proud, don’t cower.
BE ALIVE to day and every day;
Live life to the fullest and savor it,
The day will come for your rewards –
So FLY HIGH, reach your star and light it!

Beyond the Sea

Full sails carry you on
On beyond the sea,
As the clouds drift by
Let your worries fall away.
The waves will wash them
Deep into the ocean
Then new dreams will float
Onto the beach
Like a message in a bottle
Floating from afar.
The pounding surf assures you
That there is a power there
Lifting you up above the fray
Ready to carry you home.

Castles in the Air
2005
Who wants to live in a castle?
They are cold, damp and drafty.
Who wants to be a queen?
Wear a heavy crown and be seen?
All those subjects bowing down
Before you wearing a lofty frown.
It wouldn’t be any fun at all,
As your servants on them you call.
They really aren’t your friend;
You’d be lucky if you have ten.
I’d rather be just plain old me
And have crumpets with my tea;
For friends I have dozens and dozens
And oodles and oodles of cousins!

Dawn at Aurora

As the fog lifts sunlight descends
Bathing us in a glowing mist,
An aurora of every rich bright color
As a curtain ascends above the tryst.
Treasures gleam under the light
Beckoning waiting eyes;
Luring one to reach out and grasp
Before the vanishing mist belies.
Times may come, times may go,
But the sun rolls on forever;
Bringing things out into the light
Where tarnish and rust sever.
Antiquity appears reminding us
That time does not stand still;
People are born, live and die
And we all pass over the hill.

Early in the Morning

Listen to God, he’ll reveal his plan
If you will only pray;
Read the Bible, think awhile,
Then you’ll hear what he has to say.
His thoughts connect to yours
Making sense of the events of today;
You will know which path to follow,
So just step out with faith on your way.
Enjoy the journey with optimism
You will find that you are happy;
Just smile and spread some cheer around,
Then trust in God is a reality.

Fantasy Come True

Exploring space is a reality now
As we see the probe of Titan;
It’s a great moment for science and mankind,
Nothing before has been seen quite like this.
Huygens reached its destination,
Transmitting to its mother ship Cassini;
For five hours, pictures came through.
Titan is a moon of Saturn, in earth in beginning.
With a star like our sun it could be earth;
This shows how unbeatable the human spirit is;
The phenomenon of treading in space –
It’s astounding to say the least,
That the international cooperation is
Something we can trace.
We all are a part of an amazing universe,
There is tremendous cosmic power out there;
Men reaching out among the stars,
And touching God, our Maker of whom we
All are aware!

Christmas is Coming

Sprinkle a little stardust
On the snow down below;
Give it a little sparkle
And the scene will glow.
We thank you for the frost
And the ice on the lake.
It brings a shimmer and shine
To winter for our sake.
Christmas is coming;
Carols are playing;
Snow flakes are falling;
We all are praying....
For a happy time for all,
As we celebrate Christ's birth.
We'll sing and hug each other--

How do we know that God is alive?

We see His light in every star,

In every grain of sand on the shore.

It sparkles in the morning dew,

On every wave of the sea;

His rays shine down on mountain tops,

Lakes, rivers and streams;

Meadows are alive with His light --

Colors dazzle us in each flower.

We feel the warmth of his power

In morning sun and moon lit nights.

We watch it in every animal,

Bird, fish and butterfly.....

walking, running, swimming and flying.

We know his love as we see it reflected

In the soulful eyes of those around.

People we care about prove to us

That God is alive and well;

His Holy Spirit love abounds!!!

The Lord's Way

God shows His power in the sunrise;
Nature proves that He is wise!
He's with us by Spirit all day;
His Son Jesus shows us the way.
We praise God in the morning
Thank Him every evening --
He gave us life and abundance, too,
He'll give eternal life to you:
All you have to do is believe,
Confess your sins, then receive.
He will come into your heart
And from you He'll never part.
So accept His gracious gift;
Let His love give you a lift.
Baby Jesus who was born,
Lived and died as our very own;
Gave His life on a cross one day
That we might follow in the Lord's way!
